Project of the Month: Hybrid Scrapbooking

Here is a 12 x 12 scrapbook page I created in my online art studio

But I wanted to add 3-D pieces so I added a flower

and dimond-like bling.

Here is the final page

Post-Bound Scrapbooks

One of the things I found frustrating as a traditional scrap-booker was in the area of post-bound albums.  I would be making a book for my kids and I would search for a book to hold my pages and I was disappointed by my choices.  I either had to pick one with a solid color or one with a generic pattern that anyone could buy and I wanted something unique that showcased the theme of my book.  For years I settled for those plain, unexciting books but now I no longer have to!  I can now create my own unique, one-of-a-kind book cover.  How ingenious is that?
In my digital art studio I can now create the cover of my dreams for my 12 x 12 post-bound cover.  It comes with ten 12x12 clear sleeves (I can buy more at Wal-mart, Target) and extenders to make the book as large as I want.  I can also slide my digital and traditional scrap-pages into my personalized book.
Below is the book I made for a family trip we took to Washington D.C and New York City a few years ago.

Quarter Auction Fundraiser

Today My Creative Wingz had a table at the MOM's group Quarter Auction to raise money for a local charity; Pink Heart Pony Kids.  This non-profit organization specializes in equestrian therapy for children.  We felt so honored to donate our products for this worthy cause.

Here are the photos of our three baskets we auctioned off.
This basket contained points for an 8x8 Storybook, photo frame, Free account, and 1-hour Free Design appointment.

This basket included a Keepsake Bracelet (holds 6 photos), photo frame, Free account and 1-hour Free Design appointment.

Our final basket held the points to create a Deck of Playing Cards, photo frame, Free account, and 1-hour Free Design appointment.

Traditional vs. Digital

In the world of scrapbooking there are two different camps; the traditional and the digital.  The traditional scrapper likes to cut, paste and use the specialized tools and the digital scrapper prefers to use technology to make the process quicker and easier.  No matter where your preference lies there is one thing both sides have in common; the desire to remember, document and tell their stories.
Deep down we all want our lives to have meaning; we want our families and friend to remember us when we are gone.  How we choose to document our lives and the lives of our families becomes a personal preference.  In the end it doesn’t matter how we preserve and tell our stories; it’s just important that we do.
For the month of April I want to focus on what I call Hybrid Scrapbooking.  Hybrid Scrapbooking is where we do some traditional, some digital and a combination of both.  There will be tips, techniques, samples, challenges and most of all fun and creativity.
